All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bathinda (AIIMS Bathinda) is a Public Medical Research Institute situated in Bathinda, Punjab. The Institute is autonomous in nature and was established in 2019 with the goal to offer high-quality education in the Medical stream, along with healthcare facilities that are open to everyone. It is one of the four AIIMSs announced by the Ministry of Healthcare and Family Welfare (MHFW), Government of India and is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The Institute was an initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) in July 2014. Later, it became operational in 2019, after the foundation was laid down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with six other AIIMS campuses.
The Institute offers 50 undergraduate seats in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme as of now. AIIMS Bathinda is planned to be an institute-cum-hospital accommodating 700+ beds on 177-acre land. The Institute will comprise of 30+ departments such as Anatomy, Cardiology, Dentistry, Dermatology, General Medicine, Microbiology, Physiology, among others.
