Established in 2012, AIIMS Jodhpur is one of the six AIIMS institutes established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Established by an Act of Parliament, it is a medical research public university as well as a medical college offering medical education, nursing, and paramedical training to students. AIIMS Jodhpur lists courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels. Approved by MCI, AIIMS Jodhpur was ranked 28th under the Medical category by NIRF in 2021.
AIIMS Jodhpur has signed MoUs with the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow, to work in the field of toxicology research. The institute has also signed MoUs with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur, and National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur, for academic collaboration.
