IIT Bhubaneswar – Indian Institute of Technology Highlights 2024

Established in 2007, the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, also known as IIST Trivandrum, is situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. IIST Trivandrum is a UGC-recognised Deemed-to-be University, which functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India. All the academic programmes offered at IIST Trivandrum are approved by AICTE. The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Trivandrum was established to offer high-quality education at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels in the areas of space sciences, space technology, and space applications.

IIST Trivandrum had Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the renowned technocrat and former President of India as its very first Chancellor and Prof U.R. Rao, the eminent space scientist and one of the former Chairman of ISRO, as its second chancellor. Since its inception, IIST Trivandrum has thrived under the guidance of many eminent scientists and visionaries. IIST Trivandrum has been ranked at the 48th position by the NIRF, in 2023 under the engineering category.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Trivandrum has established several MoUs with international universities and organisations, such as the University of Caltech, the University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, the Danish Aerospace Company, and others.

IIST Trivandrum offers full-time BTech, MTech, MSc, and dual-degree programmes at the UG and PG levels in several fields, such as Aerospace Engineering, Earth & Space Sciences, Physics, Avionics, and others.
