Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar is a prestigious Engineering institute in India. NIT Jalandhar has been ranked 46th by NIRF 2023 in the ‘Engineering’ category and 72nd in the ‘Overall’ category. Additionally, the institute is ranked 21st in the Engineering (Government) category and 29th in the Engineering category by India Today 2023. Various international organisations have ranked NIT Jalandhar as well. The institute is ranked 1001-1200 in the World University category by Times Higher Education Rankings 2024.

Established in the year 1987, the central government gave this institute the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University). The central government has renowned this institute as the ‘Institute of National Importance’. Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology provides education at the undergraduate, doctoral and postgraduate levels in the fields of Science, Technology and Engineering. NITJ has 17 different academic departments, which include the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Physics, Department of Civil Engineering, etc. Furthermore, the institute also offers PG Diploma courses in various fields of Engineering, including Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Thermal Engineering, and Design Engineering.
