NIT Silchar – National Institute of Technology Highlights 2024

National Institute of Technology, Silchar is one of the top-ranked Engineering institutes in India. The institute has been ranked 40th in the Engineering category and 83rd in the Overall category by the NIRF 2023. Additionally, it has been ranked 22nd in the Engineering (Government) category and 32nd in the Engineering category by India Today 2023. National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar was started as a Regional Engineering College (REC) in 1967. The College started its academic programme with affiliation from Guwahati University. In 2002, it was included in the list of NITs under the National Institute of Technology Act 2007 and was also declared as an Institute of National Importance. NIT Silchar offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Engineering, Science, and Humanities among others. The courses include BTech, MTech, MSc, MBA, etc. NIT Silchar course admission is based on entrance exams, such as JEE Main, GATE, MAT, CAT, IIT JAM, etc.
