Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Amethi was established in 2007. Located in Amethi, U.P, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology was established in 2008. It offers B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD courses. The institute was established by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. The campus of RGIPT is spread across 47 acres. Under the Act of Parliament, RGIPT has got the status of “An Institution of National Importance”. RGIPT is co-promoted by ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL, and HPCL in association with the Oil Industry Development Board.
RGIPT offers 15 courses under seven departments. The institute also has completed corporate industrial training with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd & BPCL in 2019. The institute also offers various need-based & merit-based scholarship schemes to its students.
