Established in 1984, Vellore Institute of Technology (Also known as VIT Vellore or VIT University) is a private research university located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The institute is recognised as an Institution of Eminence and the No. 1 private university for Innovation as recognised by the Government of India. It is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is accredited with an A++ Grade by the NAAC.
